Works Fantastic - Small Business Invoice Software Review

By Tyler Bell

I guess this means that after I do the updates I have to go to each of my bank sites and double check. I switch to Quicken Home and Business to replace Microsoft Money Small Business as it will no longer be supported. This program cannot download bank transactions consistently. If you get one account working then all the other accounts will stop downloading transactions.

You really do want the latest so that encryption standards and security settings are at their maximum. Especially if you use the one step update with Quicken and the password vault. I was unable to deal with my bank accounts or my credit card. Now I wouldn't know anymore what charges or payments were posted to my credit card, what deposits or payments made by my bank account; I'd have to start writing checks manually and mailing them via USPS. I imagine they did this to make the interface "look" simpler/cleaner, but now you have to rummage through the menus to find them. So, for example, the "Live Community" speed button was eliminated; it is now found as a "Help" menu item.

I'd love to know why this product even exists. And I'd really love to hear about a viable alternative. In the rare case that Quicken does take small blame for a given issue, there's never an ETR. Just "Wait and try again in 1-3 business days."

Obviously, nothing more than a few pennies a year are going toward customer service training, system stability, server reliability, or ANY online services. Lastly, if you have NO intention of ever using any of Quickens online services or bank updates & only reconcile w/ pencil & paper, I might give 2 stars. So the one step update stuff has been completely revamped. I was able to add accounts like an obscure online money market account I had, as well as my checking accounts, and my Scottrade account, IRA accounts, all without crashing my machine, how quaint! After all these years, I thought it was time for an upgrade. I was not disappointed.

I think staying current with this type of application is particularly important since it holds so much of your personal financial data. I'll preface by saying I used MS Money since 1997, so was forced to move to Quicken back in October since they stopped support Jan of this year. While Money had its share of "downs" (like the fact that it was slow), I didn't a have any major complaints with the functionality.

They didn't hide any menus/buttons, etc. While the software is good minus the online component, I can't in good conscience give it a good or mediocre rating for the following reasons: 1.

The problem was never fixed. The last customer service upgraded me to Quicken 2011 for Free and to this day I still having difficulty downloading statements from my bank (almost on daily basis).

You feel like you've been left high and dry after the purchase. Also, they don't have a fair upgrade policy anymore.
