First Rate All The Way - Super Antivirus Software Critique

By Christian Taylor

This will be my second year having Norton. I can say I'm as pleased as I was with Norton 2010 on this. Buying this software could save you hours of headaches trying to get your infected box back. I have had to wipeout friend's hard drives because their systems were so infected. Instead, Symantec prefers to try to gouge its customers. For this software which is currently selling for $37.99 on Amazon, Symantec charges $59.99 for renewal. Norton Internet Security - 1 User/3 Pc has worked so fine that, at the moment of the installation, even though I had McAfee installed in my system, NORTON detected 4 Trojan viruses that were hidden in my computer and which McAfee had not found. I am very pleased with all the features this program has, including the international monitoring of threats, the automatic scans, live updates and more. Once I figured that out things went smoothly. Excellent price at almost half the price, and I used the difference to get a power cord for my laptop!

NIS took me less than 60 seconds to install on my dual core laptop, setup was a breeze. The UI is one of the best I've seen in a security suite.

Norton seems to have turned a corner with their antivirus as I am pleased with NIS 2010 and the upgraded version. The footprint is smaller and does not bog down your PC as with Norton products of old.

I bought Norton Internet Security and have had no problem since. Norton caught them all and killed them all! This year, I checked a website that rates the top 10 Internet Security software programs and Norton came in second. Therefore I went ahead and purchased the one for the year. I feel that I was ripped off by them. I have used this product since 2009.

I have used Norton for three or four years. All you have to do is enter the product key and you're good to go for another year.

I don't know exactly where Norton rates with all of them but I have found Norton to be easy to load and very reliable. Norton used to have a reputation of being a memory hog but I have not found that to be true any longer. My computer is at least twice as fast and maybe more. I have more options on what I want to do as far as security goes and it doesn't interfere with other things I want to do.

The caveat is choose wisely, not all software is compatible and you may experience conflicts. Add Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to NIS for a more confident internet experience. Norton uses a website-based parental control option now. Despite being called a different name and being able to set profiles for family members, it is not reliable and not well thought-out.
