What Am I Paying For? - Best Compact Digital Camera Critique

By Lillian Kelly

I bought this as a fix so that I could at least take some pictures while snorkeling. Out of the box, this camera was awful. I bought this because my wife and daughter both bought them when their previous cameras broke. I got sand in my previous Canon camera and it jams. I would recommend this camera but not for everyday use, then I would get something more complex. If you are a photographer this is not the camera for you. I give this camera 5 STARS and a big thumbs up! It also seems the time between shots takes longer.

I took the camera to a gym to take pictures and movies of my son playing floor hockey. The images are so disappointing.

I really like the Olympus tough series, but am hesitant to try another camera of this model. Any thoughts on this or recommend a different model or brand" Overall this camera is awesome, I took it white water rafting and it held up great (I didn't submerge it but it definitely got wet and bumped around). It is a great camera for outdoor lovers who don't want to lug a huge camera around, are disappointed with cellphone pic quality, and want to take pictures everywhere they go.

Also the pictures always seemed to turn out blurry; I'd have to take several pictures of the same frame to get a good one. I tried every setting and always ended up with the same result. As somewhat of a skilled photographer I am unfortunately very disappointed in this camera. The screen has good clarity when taking pictures and video; however, after taking a still shot, the image looks blurry on the screen, leaving you with no idea if the actually image is clear. All in all, the quality is great for what I need it to be. Point, shoot, forget.

Some people incorrectly refer to this is "excessive shutter lag." This is not the case: The default setting for this camera is to display the photo just taken for about four seconds after pressing the shutter button so the user can view the image. I had to take the battery out in order for it to shut off. Just printed out the return forms, this camera is going back. It cost more to fix these cameras than to buy a new one. So far our Tough cameras keep working even after rough use.

Olympus strap float orange I was attracted to this camera because it has waterproof and shock proof. I got this for my daughter and takes video of her in the swimming lesson.

Thankfully the seller -- Beach Camera Company -- authorized a return for full refund.
