Adore It - Sylvania 7 Netbook Critique

By Kayla Martin

Also, it has Windows "Starter" vs Windows 7 "Home Premium" which most desktop computers come with) but son says that is actually better because it allows the netbook to work faster (because he tells me that "Starter" is 32 bit and Home Premium is 64 bit). I got this laptop for my birthday, and I have to say that I am incredibly happy with this little puppy!

I expected to get years of use of it, and 18 months is far shorter life span than my anticipation. I just purchased one about a week ago and must say I am impressed. Instead of returning my computer, I just bought a skin, which probably amounted to the same price had I bought the brown netbook but at least I got to choose a really cool design. My Toshiba netbook arrived from Amazon today! I have now downloaded IE 9 beta and it runs fine as well (IE 9 loads up as quickly as chrome does). I have 3 small gadgets running on the desktop and that does not seem to slow it down despite the low 2.4 windows experience rating. Toshiba refunded the cost, but did not suggest a solution so I tried Crucial. I sent the same information to Crucial (the numbers off the current 1GB module) and they suggested their 2GB DDR3 module. I have had this netbook for 8 months. This is not a bad computer and pretty simple to use.

I tweaked it a bit but that is further proof that it is a great machine - and it is able to be customized with little effort. My sister quickly noted the nice orange color.

I ordered a Kingston 2GB module off of Amazon, snapped it in, and it booted up great. I've had this for about 3 months now and it is more favored than my 4 GB 2.5 GHz desktop! I got this for web browsing at home and on the go. It is super-fast and the display is crisp and clear!

This is a great little gizmo, it's not for gamers. But it's perfect for surfing the web, email, Facebook and day to day stuff or travel to keep in touch.

I do need to learn how to use Windows 7 as I am coming from XP.I like the size and how it functions, it is also easy to handle and setup for use. I just wanted a small computer to take on trips and down to the local coffee shop. I bought a Liteon that reads and burns DVD's for $40 on Amazon. I purchased the Toshiba Netbook mainly to view the websites I visit daily, such as Facebook, and also to have something small to take with me on motorcycle trips to document our adventures.

This is a great product, first of all. The keyboard is comfortable, the track pad is sensitive and easy to use, it is light, it feels good in the hands, and (easily the best feature in my eyes) the layout of the USB ports is amazing.

The 8 hours battery life is awesome. The screen clarity is amazing.

You just have to hook up an external display, like the Aquos TV to view hi-res to your heart's content. The built-in panel is clear with rich color but it also drives an external display very well.
