Now I Know What's Wrong - Computer Repair Business Software Critique

By Joseph Green

When importing transactions from financial center how to split money for different categories and still show up in Business account and Budget Report. Another issue I have is that with the new version I can no longer back it up to a DVD RW for some reason.

Having paid good money for this software, I'm steamed that they now subject me to ads as well. I don't mind the free-if-you-view-our-ads software business model in general, but do find it offensive if the software cost plenty of money. The product was installed on a Lenovo N100 2gb RAM Windows Vista notebook. The 2011 edition was an upgrade from Home & Business 2008. It has been a very frustrating experience. Many of the issues I mention are list on the Quicken live forums. It has an easy to use interface. It can still run on a computer without internet connection. Also for any loans I had when I made a payment it put the entire payment amount towards the principle and didn't break it down between principle/interest/insurance/etc. I deleted and recreated the Quicken account and re-imported multiple times and eventually gave up as I could never fix all the errors. It appears totally random. I usually waste about 30 minutes when I do my finances (once a week) trying various combinations of manual downloads, automatic updates, and opening web browsers until something finally works. I've also found that GNU Cash did a good job with allowing me to make custom graphs although the user interface was rather cumbersome. By contrast, Quicken seems to have a few pre-set graphs and nothing else is available. With no copy and paste I have to repeat the set up for each one. You can't categorize multiple sub-categories at once.

Great, I thought, now let me find the applet that shows my income for the period, and that will serve me almost as well as the 2010 solution. Gee, doesn't seem to exist.

After all these years, I thought it was time for an upgrade. I was not disappointed.

Still, it is annoying to have to do this. If you want quicken to automatically download and sync to your accounts it works nicely.

Thank goodness for Amazon! It was super cheap and fast shipping! I connected with my bank and have four checking accounts sync'd up with no problem. Yesterday I entered two credit card accounts and have sync'd them with no problem. No more explanations. "The improvements" are not really improvements but things that you already had; they just made them more difficult to find in the program.
