The Significance of Church Growth

By Chad Gleaves

Church growth is one yardstick by which you measure in case you are growing as the entire body of Christ. To begin with, as a pastor looking to grow your church, you have to check your motives using great integrity. You need to take a look at your stand - am I trying to grow my church with my strength for my personal glory or 'm I seeking God's perspective for my church? You must keep in mind that it's God who provides growth, we can simply plant and h2o as God wills. After having ascertained Gods will it has been seen that there are 5 main barriers that will stunt church growth. What are they will?

The first barrier to be able to growth is Place - We love congested places! Haven't we frequented that crowded shopping mall because it is popular even though there is another, every bit as good or maybe even better, more detailed home? We need to increase our seating or perhaps look for a larger corridor when our corridor is 70% full instead of wait until it is full to overflowing.

The next barrier to development is lack of SELF DEVELOPMENT - In the event you, as the pastor, usually are not growing spiritually in that case your church is not increasing. Unless the leader is becoming a fresh revelation often he cannot steer his flock successfully. What are the signs of not enough growth? The message from the pulpit becomes dull along with repetitive, the congregation is no longer interested in ministry as well as soul winning, the staff does not grow and also the church does not grow. The leader needs to replenish himself in the Head of the family regularly.

The third obstacle to growth can be SHARING - Whenever a church stops looking of itself to see the community then it is looking inwards and only discussing a unique programmes. It is no longer reaching out to the people. Stay away from this doing items only for itself. It might be a church containing only a lot of excellent works but it income no one. We can possess good works with no faith but we can't have faith without good works. Heart and soul winning is essential for church growth.

The fourth barrier is the WORSHIP SERVICE - When people are introduced to your church they are presented there to see the reason why they should accept this God. Are his / her people living their lives the way they appear? An expression of our affection is worship and praise. It is the peoples' time and energy to get close to Our god. What is the impression you create? Are we dreary and lack lustre without the joy that Christ has promised us all? Energize your worship time.

The fifth buffer is STAFF : As our religious organization grows we need a lot more staff to maintain the sleek running of the chapel. Here we need to copy Acts 6:1-4 where the apostles selected more effective men to serve the particular growing church. Deciding on or hiring staff is definitely an exercise of faith. Many people believe that they must first gather the resources and have it in place before hiring the staff. But we must transfer faith knowing that Our god is our service provider, if we did it within our own strength we'd never have the resources. Any time God gives the expansion He also gives us the provision. Praise Our god!
