A History Lesson on the Principles Church Growth

By Chad Gleaves

In the early church growth was something which happened vigorously. Each time there was an outpouring of the Spirit thousands ended up added to the number of the believers. It would be great if this was still taking place but unfortunately it is not so. The early church implemented certain principles put down by each of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are able to apply, in this point in time too, the same rules and methods that produced church growth during apostolic times.

Before they could go out and make disciples of the nations around the world they were asked to hold out and pray for that power that would be presented to them so that they might make disciples. There were One hundred twenty people praying in the upper room with one accord. Since they prayed and anxiously waited they were baptised with the Almost holy Spirit, only and then did they go to preach and teach as well as spread the gospel. They sought inward progress before they could contact the community.

They implemented the mission provided to them by the The almighty Jesus Christ just before he or she ascended into heaven * to be His witnesses inside Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the comes to an end of the earth. The early cathedral focused on the Word as well as were witnesses to the lifestyle and death and resurrection of Christ. Each and every church has its own special function within the body involving Christ. The early church planted churches in each and every place the apostles went to preach. The actual church discovered that Our god was not a respecter involving persons and that contrary to everyday opinion, of that time, the actual saving grace of Christ was not limited and then the Jews. The management of the early religious organization were ready to move on after giving up leadership to the elders with the church, and so native churches were formed and encouraged. The indigenous people were not required to have the outward visual appeal of a Jew but was required to nurture the back to the inside heart of Jesus.

The leaders with the early church are not afraid of working hard or taking up any missionary assist zeal and eagerness. The leaders have been themselves growing more robust in their faith and also exhorting and taking time to practice the younger 'baby' believers. Early church also methodically planned their missionary journeys, again through prayer hoping God's will. There was a time while Paul was not permitted, by the Holy Spirit, to preach the gospel throughout Asia so, we were holding being led with the Holy Spirit.

Because early church became there also came about a need for more people to take care of administration. The frontrunners chose people out of the laity who were men of faith and so there is a second line of frontrunners who then had taken over from the management.

After a church ended up being planted and proven and the leaders still left on other missions the indigenous chapels which had been founded were not left without the supervision, hence all the letters of Henry to the churches in numerous countries. Not only does Paul write but he also went to them at a later date. He followed up to make sure that the particular churches were healthy and growing. The existing principles do still implement!
