Portable Speakers And Their Compatibility With MP3 Players

By Louis Fernandez

MP3s are usually made for use with headphones and seldom players have a built-in speaker in them. The fact that some people want to listen to music without having headphones or earphones in their ears caused the invention of portable speakers for MP3 players. The result was a huge range of speakers that would be available in the market to make all the different consumers happy.

Although these speakers come in a variety of sizes, they are comparatively smaller in size on an average, thereby providing the convenience of being portable.

Some newer MP3 players can recharge themselves using a USB connection to a computer or laptop using just a USB cable, but some older models need their batteries replaced whenever the battery runs out. This also increases the cost attributable to them.

These portable speakers don't have the loudest sound and volume, but they are great to be carried out on a day at the beach, for use in a dorm room or just use to play some soft music when you are talking with people. The negative is that, such speakers can not be separated enough to provide a better sound.

The diameter of the woofer of most portable speakers for mp3 players is about an inch only. Although the power consumption of portable speakers is on the lower side than what one may expect it to be, there is a limitation on the bass effect of sounds emanated by these speakers when compared to those produced by larger ones. Portable mp3 player speakers that produce greater bass quality sound effects with subwoofers too, are available in plenty. However, they are certainly more expensive and larger as far as sizes go.

Companies like Creative, Bose, Sony and Altec Lansing are considered pioneers in the field of portable speakers for mp3 players. The quality of sound produced by these speakers is excellent and they prove very effective when the need is to cater to a large audience or simply for enjoying music loudly within the comforts of your own home.

When compared to smaller speakers, larger ones offer the twin benefits of high quality bass output and extreme clarity of sound. It is but natural that larger speakers would definitely cost more on account of these features.

A typical Google search can provide you with many options and insights into your perfect portable speaker. Most major shopping websites also offer you the feature of comparing different type of products available that can help you choose, compare and decide which portable speaker fits your taste and wallet perfectly.
