Defend Your Business - Be Certain You've Got Something to Pass On

By Daniel Turbin

It hasn't ever been more true than it is today. The world economy is changing. America's economy is changing. Gone are the days where a person could graduate from school on a Tuesday, secure a job at the factory on the fringes of the town on a Wed., work there for 30 years and retire with an annuity and a gold watch. Those days are gone and they are not coming back.

Replying to that, folks in increasing numbers are striking out all alone. Trying entrepreneurship, and an extraordinary proportion of them are succeeding. They're growing beyond themselves and blazing new trails. For most what started as a commercial prerequisite has evolved into the vision of growing a colourful business to be able to pass it on to their children.

That's a good, noble goal, and I'm wishing each single person who has that want the very best of luck. I'd also urge every last one of them to devote attention to data security.

Most folks who start a business for themselves are graced with abundant common sense and a good work ethic. They extremely quickly learn the fundamentals of what is required to build, run, and manage the daily operations of a little corporation. Unhappily though, many of those same people aren't awfully technically inclined, and while they may intuitively understand that to protect your data is to protect your business, relatively few of these new entrepreneurs have any firm concepts about the best way to do that. Due to this, it is a thing quite often left to risk, and this is a boo boo.

So if you are wanting to expand your business to have something to pass on to your kids and grand youngsters, then I enjoin you to make Internet security a part of your thinking. If you don't put some thought into it ( and that would include engaging a qualified expert if you do not have the technical know-how yourself ), then it could very well be the thing that blind sides you, and rather than leaving a flourishing business to the new generation, you may leave a busted site with some smarmy hacker emblem on it, and dreams that got pulled out from under you. Don't let that happen to you or your dreams!
