How To Eliminate Spyware From Your Computer?

By Thomas Walters

Everyone seems to be asking these days: why is my computer so slow? Your computer may be loaded with programs called spyware and adware and that is the usual answer t that question. Spyware and adware are programs that are installed in order to know what products you're interested in and record keystrokes on your computer so they know what you're talking about but usually, they are installed without your permission on your computer so companies can show their advertisements and log what sites you visit. Below are 3 easy steps to take to start protecting and eliminating your spyware and adware problem on your home computer.

First is the fact that Internet Explorer's browser has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. A browser such as Mozilla's Firefox would be the best alternative. It will automatically transfer your bookmarks/favorites and settings over to Firefox after installing the browser. You should also make sure that your default browser is Firefox. If you use Firefox, then this will reduce the amount of spyware and adware on your computer by 75%.

Secondly, download free programs. There are free programs available that will help detect and remove spyware and adware from your computer. Make sure that you run and update both of these programs twice a week in order to be completely safe. Not only will this bring your protection level up to 95%, but this will also get rid of all spyware and adware that are currently on your computer.

Last but not least, you should use a firewall. This is exactly how it sounds like, it is a wall between your internet connection and your computer. A firewall is a must if you have a high speed broadband connection. Most Windows XP systems have a built in firewall that you can simply enable (check Microsoft's help files if you don't know how) but if you're looking for more protection but don't want to pay, simply download a free firewall. Your protection level is now at 100% because you have a properly configured firewall.

Good luck and be safe!
