How you can Update Sound Drivers & Deal with No Sound Problems

By Ashly T. Cadice

When you are experiencing problems with your computer system, for example no sound, frequent freezing or crashing or a blue error display screen coming up all the time, you most likely need to update your sound driver. Your first step is to examine your USB cable and all of your connections to rule them out as potential causes for the issues you are experiencing. If your USB cable and your connections are all ok, then you will have to update your sound driver.

Drivers are software system items which instruct your computer how to talk to various kinds of hardware that are plugged into or installed into your computer. If the driver quits working or malfunctions, this line of communication is broken or garbled and the computer is confused and the hardware doesn't work properly. This may even sometimes occur when Windows installs their automatic updates. Another problem sometimes comes from forgetting to uninstall old sound drivers any time you install a new one or from adding the incorrect sound driver. The sound driver has to match up with exactly the model of computer system you have got.

If you determine that it's necessary to add a new sound driver then it is a little bit different for different computer systems. Allow me to share some valuable tips and hints.

For Windows XP systems, you must first click on the "Start" button. Then, you need to click "Control Panel," then double click on "Systems." Next, you need to select the "Hardware" tab. After that, you will need to enlarge the "Sound, Videos and Game Controllers, " before double clicking the sound card then clicking on the "Driver" tab. Then simply click on "Update Driver," and from there you basically follow the Hardware Update Wizard to complete the update on the new sound card driver.

For Windows Vista systems, you begin by clicking on "Start," and then click "Control Panel," and double click on "System." Next, you need to click the "Hardware" tab, then click the "Device Manager." From there, you click "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" to enlarge it and then under that you double click your sound card entry. After that, you press the "Driver" tab and then click on "Update Driver Software." Then you must follow the guidelines directed at you by the Update Driver Wizard to finish the operation.

For Mac systems you need to use the System Profiler and on Linux, you should use the Linux Device Manage, but the key idea is exactly the same for all the systems. By using sound driver updates you could eliminate your crashes, freezing, blue display screen errors and no sound problems for ever.
