The HP Envy 15 Review And Information

By Barb Diddle

Among the many brands from HP, the Envy trademark is in a class of its own. The products are high quality and performance laptops that are very portable and attractive as well. As this HP Envy 15 review will later show, the number 15 and any other at the end of the laptop names refers to their sizes in inches. These computers are mostly used for multimedia purposes and also for mid-level gaming. Their bodies are made of both plastic and aluminum.

This high end product comprises of a Chiclet keyboard that helps improve the ease and speed of typing. There are also backlights on the keyboard for visibility in the dark. The touchpad on the product is also very large and moderately sensitive. The design has a combined the two mouse pads into a single bar located at the bottom of the pad. However, this is not so popular with a good number of laptop users.

The 15 inch model usually comes with the Intel core i7 which is a quad core processor and the Intel core i5 which is a dual core processor. It also provides a choice of shared graphics and discrete graphics. The shared graphics processors do not have high graphics power and the Intel HD is the graphics card used. The discrete graphics option is powered by the ATI mid range GPU well suited for office tasks, multimedia tasks and mid-level gaming.

The gadget has an LED backlit, 15.6 inch display. The consumer has a choice between the 1366 x 768 screen and the full HD 1920 by 1080 IPS panel. The full HD however will be optional and more expensive than the normal 1366 by 768. Those who desire a bigger screen have the option of the HP Envy 17 which has a 17.3 inch screen with 1920 by 1080 full HD screen but still has all other features similar to the 15 inch model.

One of the reasons this HP laptop is called a multimedia laptop is the quality of sound that comes with it. The PC is installed with quality sound systems made by the world renowned sound company, Beats by Dre. Some models are even custom made to incorporate a sub-woofer in its casing that produces high quality bass. To control all these features, there is a button on the side of the computer that grants access to the equalizing unit software.

The notebook comes with a slot loading DVD drive. Those who opt for a Blu ray drive will need to get the Envy 17. The laptop comes with 8 GB RAM which is expandable up to 16 GB.

The secondary storage is also impressive with a minimum of 500 GB and a maximum of 750. There are external media and data transfer slots conveniently placed around the notebook with the vent system at the back. It also has impressively longer battery life than most other laptops.

When compiling the HP Envy 15 review, you cannot fail to mention the HP Sleekbook. It is a light and thin version of the brand. Like the 15 inch model, it is powered by second and third generation Intel processors. The laptop has a long battery life of 8.5 hours to keep the user working when not plugged in. Graphics processing can be provided by either Intel HD or an ATI Radeon 7670 discrete graphics. The laptop is equipped with beats audio to give high quality sound.
