Avast Antivirus Review - Does It Look Currently being Next Generation Technology?

By Kushagra Pant

Avast Antivirus has been popular among users because even its free version is effective. The Pro version is now among the top commercial antivirus options. Avast Professional Antivirus version 6.0 improves on a previous version of the product. The primary complain against Avast had been the outdated user interface. Avast Version 5 added a new, polished, easy-to-use interface. Version 6 retains this interface and adds some great functionality and features, like Auto-Sandbox and WebRep.

Avast offers a relatively hassle-free installation. The impact on boot time and shut down is also minimal. Avast incorporates a boot-time scanner to detect any threat during start up. Independent tests on Avast rated the software high on speed and usability, and a high detection rate of threats. Avast incorporates a heuristic engine to detect new undefined threats. The software also compares favorably with similar applications in its scan speed. Though not lightning fast, it certainly is on the faster side.

Sandbox is surely the best feature Avast has seen in recent times. This new feature added helps it improve more in areas of security. The Sandbox creates a virtual environment which separates any suspicious files and scans them separately. In this was it makes sure that if any malicious software present in it does not affect the computer. The auto-sandbox feature separates any suspicious thread and treats it separately so that the safety of your computer is not risked.

Sandbox allows you to run an application normally and there is option where you can save the settings you want with help of checkboxes. But there is a small glitch in this feature and hence it does not always work. Hence even if you have flagged a program and asked it to run automatically, Avast keeps asking you weather to run it normally. This happens with all new features and this is surely a setback for Avast.

For now, there is a workaround. You can edit a white-list and add the applications that you trust to this list. The next time you run these applications, the Sandbox feature will not display a notification. Another new feature is the WebRep. That is a web reputation rating based on anonymous feedback from a group of Avast users and other data. Based on the data available, a color-coded rating is made available regarding the site?s trustworthiness.

One feature that comes only in the Pro version is the Safe Zone. This allows you to run any sensitive transaction in an isolated process. The difference between Sandbox and Safe Zone is Sandbox prevents threats from leaking onto the system. Safe Zone protects sensitive data during transactions like online banking, by preventing threats from breaking in.

Save your computer from any kind of threat with the help of Avast Internet security and Avast Antivirus Professional. The safety you avail when making sensitive transactions and the security you get against threats makes Avast Professional 6.0 the best choice.
