Good Value For The Cost - Gaming Netbook Review

By Jordan Martinez

I really believe this is why many folks here say they get theirs DOA; because you do not want to know how employees at every shipment company handle stuff. Amazon, shame on you! I like the little keyboard size, and I can plug any mouse in and use it with this. The color is great, I bought the turquoise.

Made the computer run much faster, with 1 GB of RAM it seemed slow to open documents and webpages. The screen is bright and easy to read. I would consider myself a power user of Word and Excel and use this machine easily for both. With a "cloud" service to manage documents it is very seamless to use this machine to be productive on the road.

So I went online, did some research, and went to best buy and bought it for 279. First off, it is built very nicely.

Having said that, so far I am pleased with the netbook. I primarily use a 13" MacBook Pro and I purchased this netbook because I needed a computer to run Windows, and I didn't want to install Windows on my Mac.

We ended up ordering it right away. I took out as much of the Toshiba built in software as I thought I could get away with. I finally decided on a 10" notebook. After reading all the reviews and debating if I needed an air card. I expected to get years of use of it, and 18 months is far shorter life span than my anticipation. I just purchased one about a week ago and must say I am impressed.

There is a wonderful free little program available on the Internet called "Batch Image Resizer" and any full sized pictures I wanted to email, I just ran though that and all was fine. The full sized originals remained on the notebook with back up to a flash drive. The keyboard is just a shrunken version of my old laptop so it works great. As far as performance, I am upgrading from that ten year old laptop with only 512 Mb ram so I am cooking right now. I like the key board, slightly raised. It allows you to type faster. Let me start off by saying that this was my first ever laptop of any kind. Plenty of space on the hard drive, though I use an external HD when I travel. I would highly recommend this netbook for its portability, full-size keyboard, and the Toshiba reliability.

I also like placement of the SD card slot below the mouse pad, as well as the one-finger up/down scrolling feature. The closest competition to the NB505-N508BL would be the Asus PC netbooks which are about $25 less, but come with a 3-cell battery whereas the Toshiba comes with a 6-cell.
