I like it a lot. I've only had my netbook a week, but I like it very much for what I use it for: I am a journalist and often cover conferences.
Battery life is also great. Great job Toshiba, I am very happy. The unit has three USB ports as well as an SD card reader for all your photographic and peripheral needs. The keyboard is just what I have been looking for.
I ordered a Kingston 2GB module off of Amazon, snapped it in, and it booted up great. I've had this for about 3 months now and it is more favored than my 4 GB 2.5 GHz desktop!
It's also great to just use email to transfer documents even when using a mac for certain things. This works great as a secondary computer; in fact, I was slightly surprised at how well my netbook works. I decided on the Toshiba. I added the Logitech Couch Mouse M515 for PC or Mac. Nothing around here compared to the price and features of this netbook so we took a chance and placed the order. It comes with Microsoft Word Starter Edition. Netbooks are not meant to be people's primary computers. This is a 1.66 GHz DDR3 netbook for $270 shipped.
I installed Squeeze, the current stable version. It doesn't support wireless networking. I wanted a real keyboard, nothing virtual, and I cared more about battery life and reliability than apps and customization. After much research, I decided to get this Toshiba. When I played HD video (using VLC) it did hiccup noticeably at times but below 720p it worked just fine. I had no problems using Excel or Word.
I found this Toshiba Netbook on E-Bay for $175.00 and purchased it. Having read the other reviews of this netbook in the Amazon forum, I was initially concerned about the boot-up and processing speed of the computer.
It's the perfect size, with a few of the keys - like the ALT and CTRL and tab keys - a little smaller than usual. And I do have larger than normal hands. The amount of "bloatware" from Toshiba is crazy! There are a bunch of apps that you really don't need on a netbook like this. It is tiny, light-weight and great for on the plane and in hotels. I travel for school a lot and was looking for something compact and light.
