By Alfonzo Williams

Do you know what the purpose of the briefcase is?

Before we expound on how to choose the perfect briefcase let's first look at why the briefcase was invented because this will help you determine how to choose a briefcase. To keep it simple the briefcase was created to help the average businessman stay organized when traveling. Also the briefcase was created to store paperwork and sensitive sales material.

Now all across the globe professional men are purchasing briefcases on a daily basis. The number one question that most men have when it comes to briefcases is 'how do I choose one'? This is an understanding question because there are so many briefcases to choose from that it can be an overwhelming experience. So in order to take the confusion out shopping here's a question you should ask yourself before you buy a briefcase:

Why do I need a briefcase?

For example most lawyers carry sensitive and important information that needs to remain classified. Therefore, a briefcase that comes with a combination lock may be great for them. The best way to choose a briefcase is to purchase one that best fits your lifestyle. Maybe you're not a professional or business man that's okay also because briefcases are also made to serve the average male as well. This is the biggest misconception about briefcases. That only doctors and lawyers carry a briefcase when in all actuality blue-collar workers have been known to have a briefcase in their possession.

Most people don't realize this until it's time to purchase and that is that briefcases come in many different shapes and sizes. How big or how small should your briefcase be. Because it's definitely not a one size fits all type of item. To help you make the size choice all you have to ask yourself is how big is my lifestyle? In other words how many items do I need to store and carry? Once you have answered that question it will be a lot easier for you to determine what size you need.

So before you make a purchase you should just ask yourself a few simple questions that will narrow your choices down, therefore making it a lot easier for you to make a decision.

But What If I Still Can't Make a Decision?

If you still can't make that final decision i have a very simple solution to your problem. which ever one looks the best to you, that's the one you buy. you will probably keep this briefcase for the next 4-5 years so it's probably a good thing that you buy one based on it's looks as well.
