Diablo III Guide - Introduction

By Jassper Jenkins

In this Diablo 3 guide, I am going to cover numerous fundamentals of this awesome new game. I will explain to you exactly what type of game Diablo 3 is and the basics of how play it. I will also provide a great deal of awesome gaming hints for you to help level your characters quickly to 60. And speaking of characters, this guide will give you a basic understanding of the different character classes and help you choose which one to play.

When you take a look at some of the other similar games out there, it becomes really obvious that Diablo III is a whole different animal. As you play through this game, you'll be swarmed by massive amounts of monsters at once. It will be everything you can do to click the mouse and pound the keyboard fast enough in order to demolish your foes before they demolish you. Maybe that's why this game is classified as an action role-playing game, with emphasis on the action.

The view in Diablo III is a perspective top down angle. This allows you to see a great deal of the environment around you while still providing a really immersive 3D feeling. The game is control with both the keyboard and mouse. Your primary and secondary attack buttons are typically the left and right mouse button with four other ability slots available to map to your keyboard.

When you open Diablo III, the first thing you'll need to do is choose a character class. There are five to pick from. Each character class gives the player a totally difference experience with the game, which allows for nearly unlimited replay value. If you're into melee fighting, choose either the Monk or the Barbarian. If you prefer to stand back a bit and attack from a safer distance, pick the Wizard or Demon Hunter. If you can't make up your mind, there is one more option.

If you're tired of the same old standard classes, you may want to check out the witch doctor. This class is a hybrid class with a wide range of abilities. The witch doctor is a deadly combatant both up closing and from a distance. Also, their deadly pets are nothing to take lightly either!

Depending on which character class you choose, you experience the game in 5 completely unique ways. I recommend trying them all! Remember though, once you get into the harder difficulties, you will definitely want to be very good with at least one particular class in order to survive. Make sure to spend a bit of time mastering a class before moving on to the next!

An important thing to remember when out questing is to always bring health potions with you. You'll never know when you need a bit of a health boost to prevent a death. I usually try to bring at least 20 with me at all times. Fortunately, many of the monsters will drop health potions during battle so hopefully you can stay stocked up!

When fighting groups of monsters, or even bosses for that matter, make sure you keep an eye out for damaging effects in the environment. Often there will be lava, toxic clouds, fire and other deadly things that you'll need to make sure you avoid standing in. Nothing will kill you faster than trying to take on a group of enemies while simultaneously burning yourself alive!

With any luck, you have learned some useful tips in the Diablo 3 guide and are ready to get started leveling in the world of Diablo 3. Now the question remains, which character are you going to choose?
