Large Headphones - Sennheiser Rs120 Wireless Headphones Review

By Navaeh Miller

The sound quality is very good and is very comfortable to wear. Along with other reviewers, the only two negatives that I can see with these headphones is the transmission range and the design of the control buttons.

I guess with practice this can be overcome, with no much frustration. Set-up was easy; just follow the directions. The sound starts breaking up at about 25 feet but because I am sitting maybe 10 feet from my big screen 99% of the time this is not a big deal. The thing I dislike most is the volume up/on-off/volume down button set on the underside of the right ear piece. He has done a disservice to his company, in my opinion. In conclusion, you won't be disappointed with the quality of sound and comfort of the 180's -- top notch. Or office and will enable you to rediscover music and put a smile on your face. I love the sound, I love the fact that when the song is over there is no hiss or static, Next song comes on and it emerges out of silence as clean as with a wired pair.

I will experiment with them soon and update this review. Range can severely suffer if you start walking around corners or have too much between the headphones and the transmitter.

After breaking them in for a couple of days, they fit my head like a large comfortable head glove. I've worn them already for hours on end with very little ear fatigue.

Unlike others I do get headaches from the cushions, which are positioned on the sides of the head center. Somehow these cushions seem to press on some nerves and after a few minutes I get headaches that emanate from these pressure points. I can live with that when watching TV, and it certainly is "same difference" when consuming audio-only sources. Brief dropouts can occur when my microwave oven is on and I happen to pass within 2' of it. The RS180 are a blessing as far as wireless headphones go. If you're an audiophile who demands the absolute best and wants to hear every note of Tchaikovsky, it won't be on these.

The setup and daily use could be easier (the status light blinks differently depending on what the status of the device/headphones is), and the headphones don't fit comfortably on my ears. I have another Sennheiser set (PC 360) and those fit very comfortably, but the ear cups on the RS 180 are smaller and oddly shaped, and may not fit comfortably on your head at first.

Setup was quick and easy. The base station charges the headphones when you place them on top, which I do at the end of the day. Once opened, it's clear that the makers thought of everything; from the various country-specific power adapters, to the cord organizer. You will not be left wanting with these headphones. And, most importantly, the sound is absolutely amazing. There's no extraneous background noise at all: no hissing, no hums, no snaps, crackles, or pops.
